Intertwined Legacies is a design project that aims at challenging the existing prejudices against refugee communities by shedding light on their cultural heritage.
Sophomore students had the opportunity to discover a set of vernacular Syrian costumes from the collection of Musée du Quai Branly, in relation to L’Orient des Femmes vu par Christian Lacroix, with Hana Chidiac, curator of the exhibition.
After investigating the morphological, technical and symbolic features of a traditional dress, each student will establish a dialogue between the clothing object of the “Other” and an object of her/his own memory. The project deals with the expression of inventiveness through the hybridization of memories and material cultures.
