Marco Pecorari is the Program Director of the MA in Fashion Studies at The New School Parsons Paris. His research explores epistemological and hermeneutical issues in the field of fashion studies, particularly looking at practices of interpretation, the role of fashion archives and fashion museums, fashion performances, and curatorial practices in contemporary fashion and design. He holds a PhD in Fashion Studies from Stockholm University (Department of Media Studies). His dissertation, Fashion Remains: The Epistemic Potential of Fashion Ephemera, investigates the capacity of fashion ephemera to evoke and call into question material and immaterial knowledge about fashion, focusing on issues of authorship, time, and materiality. He has recently published a chapter entitled “The Liveness of Fashion: Performance as a Curatorial Practice” in the book Understanding Fashion Through Exhibitions (HEAD Geneve, 2016), the chapter “Contemporary Fashion History in Museums” in the book Fashion and Museum: Theory and Practice (Bloomsbury, 2014) and a chapter entitled “Zones in Between: The Ontology of a Fashion Praxis” for the book Couture Graphique: Fashion, Graphic Design and the Body (Terra, 2013). He also writes about art, design, and fashion for various magazines and academic journals.
