For the end of the fall term, Dr. Maxime Boidy paid a visit to our first-year Fashion Systems and Global Perspective course for a lecture on the relationship between political iconography and visual culture. Throughout the lecture, Boidy traced through centuries of significant political iconography, photography, art history, and various images from other fields of study in order to show the importance of studying different forms of visual culture. He emphasized the significance of visual studies within the realm of fashion academia and how we can use these disciplines in order to better understand the ways in which we articulate our cultural histories through imagery.

Boidy recently published the novel titled Les Études Visuelles, the first French synthesis of the visual studies practices within the English-speaking world.
