Jacopo Galimberti is a post-doctoral fellow of the British Academy at the University of Manchester. His research focuses on post-war art in Western Europe and he is currently writing a book about operaismo, autonomia and the visual arts. His articles have appeared in several journals such Art History, The Oxford Art Journal and Grey Room. He is the author of Individuals against Individualism. Western European Art Collectives (1956-1969), Liverpool University Press.

In his latest book, Individuals against Individualism. Western European Art Collectives (1956-1969), Galimberti has focused on art collectives that attempted to embody an anti-individualistic ethos and an idea of being together that opposed 1960’s mainstream notions of society and competition. Yet the Cold War is long over, what is the legacy of these collectives? What can be learnt from them? Galimberti will discuss some key concepts of this book, trying to draw analogies between the 1960s and the present.
