HDCS program director Emmanuel Guy will present his curatorial practice at Mucem, Marseille on Feb 21st, 2-5pm. This presentation is part of the “Exhibiting methods” conference series, it will be dedicated to “Exhibiting literature”.
Writing is sometimes referred to as wandering. Similarly, the path through an exhibition can be conceived of as a kind of storytelling that recalls various systems of reading. Outside of the mirror effect between exhibition and literature, how does one make tangible the work of a writer, the writing process, the malleability and musicality of a work, the inferences and imagination it calls up, the interpretations it invites? How can the monographic exhibition of a writer go beyond a biographical portrait and propose a museum visit that reflects the reading experience?
Emmanuelle Lambert, writer and curator, co-curator of the exhibition “Jean Genet, l’échappée belle” (Mucem 2016) and curator of an upcoming exhibition on Jean Giono.
